Affordable Housing Services:

Not in my day dreams did I think there could be a special place like this for low-income senior citizens. It is safe, secure and best of all the management cares about us.
-LSS Resident

LSS provides housing for more than 750 people who qualify based upon income and age or disability-related criteria. For many seniors living on a fixed income, LSS Affordable Housing Communities offer an opportunity to ease their financial worries. Residents agree that without LSS they would probably be living in a costly and unsafe apartment. But most important residents find dignity in the safe and caring environment of our LSS communities.

Currently LSS offers 17 Affordable Housing sites:

Frequently Asked Questions:

What are the eligibility requirements for tenancy in an LSS Affordable Housing Complex?
All applicants must meet age and income requirements in order to be eligible for tenancy. At several of our communities, HUD also requires that the tenants be hearing or mobility impaired. (See age requirements listed next to each complex)

What are the financial requirements?
Income limits are determined by HUD and vary by county. Applicants must fall into the “Very Low” or “Extremely Low” income categories to be eligible for our projects. Each applicant must undergo a certification process during which we will confirm current income, current assets and any out-of-pocket medical expenses incurred over the past 12 months. Based on this certification process, rent will be determined at 30% of the adjusted income. Each year, residents must undergo an annual re-certification to reevaluate and adjust the rent.

What is the size of a typical apartment?
Each building houses 16-52 one-bedroom apartments. Each apartment is approximately 530 square feet and has a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.

What amenities are included in each apartment?
The amenities include air conditioning, carpet, refrigerator, stove, mini blinds, grab bars and emergency pull-cord systems. In addition, our communities also offer a community room with kitchen, library, arts & crafts room, exercise room and a coin-operated laundry. We also have service coordinators available to assist the tenants and link them to community services allowing them to stay independent and increase the quality of their life.
