To address growing social and economic needs in the Mahoning Valley area, several clergy members convened to create a social service agency. Lutheran Social Services of the Mahoning Valley (LSS-MV) was established in October, 2002.
At LSS-MV, we believe every person deserves the opportunity to live a safe, healthy and meaningful life. To do this, people must have access to basic social services, especially when times are tough and emergencies arise.
LSS-MV provides services to people based on their individual needs:
- Experiencing a crisis, we offer emergency referral assistance.
- Need of social service coordination, we assist in obtaining personal, social and financial support.
- If people are looking to improve their job prospects, we link residents to education, training and employment programs.
- If people are overcoming adjustment or behavioral problems, we provide access to counseling and support.
- If people are concerned about their health and safety, we sponsor healthcare classes, instructional programs and crime prevention activities.
- And if people are looking to give something back, we offer lots of opportunities for community service.
All services at LSS-MV are provided with care, concern and compassion. Programs are available to all people, regardless of age, race, gender or religious affiliation.
LSS-MV serves families in need throughout Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
