Outreach Ministries

Bill came home one day to an empty house. Literally. He discovered that his wife of 15 years had left him and their two sons, and she had taken every piece of furniture, household items and the food from the cupboards.

Bill had been unemployed for six months, as the local factory closed and put 700 people out of work. He lacked the means to replace what was taken. A local Lutheran pastor looking to help referred Bill to the LSS Distribution Center in Caldwell.

With assistance from the distribution center, Bill and his sons were able to furnish their home, restock their kitchen cupboards and celebrate Christmas with new toys, school supplies and other holiday items.

Southeast Ohio Ministries is now Outreach Ministries

Outreach Ministries provides spiritual, material and financial support for 24 Ohio counties. Outreach Ministries also coordinates servant events and promotes volunteerism.

Servant Events

In an effort to strengthen, Appalachian communities, Outreach Ministries coordinates community outreach efforts or servant events. Servant events are work projects that promote community development by encouraging service through activities such as assisting with home repairs, yard work and demolition. Those assisted include low-income families, the elderly and disabled.

Distribution Centers

Outreach Ministries staff and volunteers provide case management services while meeting the basic needs of those served. Case managers assist each client with developing a plan to achieve self sufficiency. This may include job preparedness training, furthering one’s education and other areas as identified. Basic needs are met by providing clothing, household items, bedding, appliances, furniture, Christmas presents and school supplies.
