The following are some of the ways you and your church congregation can be involved in meeting the needs of families through our ministry:
DONATIONS
We are always accepting furniture, appliances, household items, bedding, clothing, toys, dental kits, school supplies and cleaning supplies as well as a number of other items.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Direct financial support allows flexibility in assisting families by providing items and services more fitting and specific to individual families. Some members of your congregation may not be able to help physically, but they can help in other ways. There is a tremendous need for more churches and their members to place our ministry in their annual budgets.
GAS CARDS
We conduct training and deliver a large number of items to families. We also travel to complete home repairs and deliver necessary tools to our servant-event groups as they work on those homes.
SERVANT EVENT PROGRAM
Put together a mission team of youth and adults to come to Caldwell and Appalachian Ohio to work on tasks such as light construction, home repair, painting and yard work for people in need. We coordinate the worksites and projects for your team. The projects have proven to be a way to teach youth to serve and volunteer while sharing Christ’s message.
IN-GATHERING EVENT
Host an event to gather items at your church for our Caldwell distribution center, which will be given to families in need.
GIVEAWAY DAY EVENT
Your church family and Outreach Ministries would gather slightly used household items, clothing, furniture, school supplies, dental kits (a toothbrush, toothpaste and floss) and other necessities to give away at your church for families and individuals in need. As your church family collects items, Outreach Ministries will fill a trailer of items to bring to your church the day of the planned event.
TRAILER SWITCH OR YOU DELIVER ITEMS TO OUR CENTER
Picking up and delivering items to our Caldwell distribution center on a regular basis is another way to support our ministry.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL
Your church family would raise money for ice cream, toppings and refreshments. The event could be an outreach activity sponsored by your church to include the surrounding community and your extended church family and friends.
NURSING HOME VISITATION
Youth groups or other congregational groups can visit residents in skilled nursing facilities. We also visit those who are unable to leave their homes and assist with chores and projects at their residences.
HOST A MISSION GROUP
A servant-event group would stay in your church, school, community center or church families’ homes. Showers and meals need to be provided. You would also be responsible for scheduling work projects to help people within your congregation, their families and residents from surrounding communities. It is important that someone from your church act as work coordinator and visit worksites to ensure needed materials are onsite. Depending on the group’s skill level, simple projects, such as painting, yard and garden work and household chores, might be more appropriate. Evening Bible studies may be planned by your church or by group leaders within the mission team. It is also helpful if church members plan evening activities and provide tours to points of interest and recreation in your area. Outreach Ministries will assist with project coordination.
